For my capstone, I'm continuing to work on a short film project I started a few semesters currently just titled "The Climb". I was inspired to make this by my early college experience and Covid, as well as many incredible short films on YouTube. My progress from that class is shown below.
While I still like the story, there's plenty of room for refinement. This week, I've been going through the process of reexamining the story and storyboards. I got feedback during class, and met with my mentor early in the week to discuss these things.
During my meeting with Woodfin, we worked on narrowing the story down to its basic points, and refining some of the visuals and framing. A lot of what we discussed was exaggerating things - making environments more messy, making the main character's correspondence with their friends more obvious. Since the short doesn't have any dialogue, these visuals are really important. Below is a sort of map that Woodfin helped me create to nail down the specific beats and overarching points of the story.
Based off of this and other feedback I got, I'm currently working on new storyboards, and some concept art to start nailing down the look of the final film.
