This week, I mainly worked to redevelop my project's story. With my mentor's help, I completely redid the setting and added in new elements to make the message - which remained the same throughout - more clear. I worked on two main things this week to do this - storyboards and animatic, and an isometric concept for the main character's room.
The room concept came first in order to plan out some of the shots I wanted to get. It was important to pin down the room in order to tell more of the character's personality - showing who they are through their surroundings. I wanted for this character to be someone very neat and orderly and obsessed with their hobby - which in this case is audio equipment, radios, records, and music - but less caring for their personal well-being.
Giving the main character a fixation on music and audio equipment seemed like a very natural way of showing their separation and isolation from the 'real' world, while also being natural.
After this, I worked on a rough animatic with scratch sound to try to pin down some ideas. While it certainly needs a lot of work still, it's far closer in communicating my ideas than it was before.
